Well, we are almost back home. This was the last night of our vacation and we stopped in Vegas on our way back from California. We had fun just walking around the strip and going to the Fashion Show Mall that they have there. We were kind of tired this night because it was the eighth day of our vacation, so we were kind of looking foward to returning home to our own bed, and kitchen, and bathroom, etc....but we had a lot of fun on our vacation and can't wait to figure out where we will be going next year...

Disneyland!

Disneyland was so much fun. Matt hadn't been there sine he was 2 and I hadn't been there since I was about 7, so to say the least, I remembered way more than Matt, which wasn't a whole lot. Because of this, it was like visiting there for the first time together. We really enjoyed seeing all the Disney characters, especially Pooh and Tigger. I also got to see Woody, which was neat, not Buzz though:(, and many, many more. Our last picture is of us trying to use the timer mechanism, but Matt can't keep from laughing, so he doesn't have his mouth all the way shut. It was pretty funny because we took about 3 different pictures and this one turned out the best.

California Adventure Park

California Adventure Park was a lot of fun. It was just like Lagoon, just a little smaller and with more Disney themed rides. We went on the roller coaster in the picture below and it was crazy fun. One minute you are just sitting there waiting to go and then before you know it, it shoots you forward at about 60 miles an hour to get the ride going. The weather cooperated much better in Anaheim as well, so that helped. I think it only hit 75 degrees, which was perfect sight seeing weather; not too hot, not too cold.

Hollywood

Well, I got a picture with the real Hollywood sign but you can't even see it because it is so far away and it is so smoggy, but we were there right in the middle of Hollywood. We went to the Highland Hollywood mall and went to the Kodiak Theater where they do the filming of the Academy Awards. It was really cool, but it wasn't as classy as I thought it would be. The street where the stars are on the side walk was kind of trashy and they had all these vendors standing outside. It was cool to see anyway though.

Uninversal Studios!

Universal Studios was a blast. We had so much fun seeing all the different movie themed entrainment and rides. We even got our picture in front of the Hollywood sign! (not the real one of course! ;). My favorite part was seeing the Travel Book Company from Notting Hill and getting my picture with Matt Damon. Matt got to have his picture taken with the Apollo 13 crew. We didn't realize until we took the tour that the theme park is right next to the actual studio where they do the filming for their movies! We even got to see the area where they were doing actual filming for the show Desparate Housewives. I actually don't watch that show, but it was really cool to be so close to where movie magic (and TV magic) happen.

Cold Sea World!

Well, these are some pictures we took at Sea World. You can't see very well in Matt's picture, but there is a sleeping polar bear behind him. It would have looked cooler if he had been awake, but what can you do... My picture is of me in Matt's jacket with a cup of hot chocolate. I was so cold that day we even left and came back so I could change into the few warm clothes that I brought for our vacation. I just wasn't planning on cool weather in California. I will think again next time if I visit earlier than later in the summer.

This is our hotel we stayed at in San Diego. We stayed right on the bay, which were were really excited about. We really wanted to do some jet skiing while we were there, but sadly the temperature only hit about 60 degrees both days we were there, and I don't think the sun came out once! Oh well, we still had fun anyway.

Funny Experience

On our way to San Diego we had kind of a funny experience. If anyone knows me I am an absolute rule follower and I stress if I feel like I am doing something wrong. Well, we decided to take some of our own food on our vacation and keep it in a cooler so we could save money on food (and prevent weight gain). Well, I bought a whole bunch of fruit, and if you have been to California they have signs all the way in that say you shouldn't try to bring any fruit in... Well, I was pretty stressed about this and wasn't sure what to do with all our fruit. Should I just throw it all out the window before we get to the check point? Well, I didn't and I was so afraid we would have a like $500 fine. Thankfully, the guy said we were okay as long as the fruit had originated from California, which I guess ours did. Whew! That was a close call...

Well, our first stop on our summer vacation this year was Las Vegas. As you can see, we made a sad attempt at taking our own picture together, but you get the picture. We are in front of the Casino New York New York. We went in May this year instead of June/July which we have done in the past. It was a great idea because of how hot Vegas gets in the summer, but our California trip was a little different....

Sage and Cali's Story

Well, we adopted Sage and Cali from shelters a few weeks after we put Tizzy Boo down (a couple of years ago). I just fell in love with both of them and decided that I wanted to have both a cat and a dog. Both Sage and Cali were extremely friendly and seemed to really like people (very important!). Sage was about 5 years old when we adopted her and had a really nice personality. We didn't find out until a few months later that she was extremely afraid of fireworks. Well, she decided she needed to take her fears out on the house if we weren't home when fireworks went off. Well, once the summer was over things went back to normal and we thought things were fine, until the next year's firework season came around... My mom's dog had to be put down just before the summer last year so we had Sage stay with her during the summer since she is retired and home more than us. Well, it worked out so well, and my mom seemed to enjoy her, so Sage's new home has been at my mom's, which has worked out just great for us (no more home destruction!). Anyway, now we just have Cali and Bode. Cali was about 10 months old when we adopted her, so she is about 3 years old now. She is the funnest, silliest, craziest cat I have ever met. We enjoy her immensely.

Toby and Bode's Story

Well, we got Toby a couple of years ago when Tizzy was still alive. I really wanted another animal and Tizzy was too old to handle another cat or a dog, so I decided to get a guinea pig after I saw the movie Dr. Dolittle with Eddie Murphy. I just fell in love with the guinea pig whose voice was played by actor Chris Rock. Well, Toby ended up being a really cute animal, but was nothing like the guinea pig in the movie. After we had him for a while, we decided he needed a friend, so that is how Bode came to live with us. About a year ago Toby started getting sick, and wasn't eating well, so about 6 months ago we had to put him down. Bode is still alive and doing well. We call him the Little Beggar because he just can't seem to get enough treats. He loves carrots, apples and broccoli.

Our First Cat

This is our cat Tizzy Boo, he was our first cat. Yes, I did say Tizzy Boo. I named him when I was 7 years old and found him as a kitten at my Grandpa's house. No one thought (or hoped) the name would stick, but it did, so this poor cat went through 17 years of life with his crazy name. I brought him with me when Matt and I got married. He died a couple of years ago of old age.

Well, I am new to this whole blog thing, but I thought it would be fun to keep in touch with friends and family through a blog. I have my friends Amber and Megan to thank for this, so hopefully I will do it justice!

Matt and I were married February 14, 2003. We met 3 years earlier in high school. We went to junior high together also, but we vaguely remember each other. Matt and I played in the band; I played the flute and he played the trumpet and french horn. We first talked at our county high school's honor band tryouts at Weber State and I knew that I had to get to know this guy better. We started dating shortly after that meeting and ended up getting married 3 years later. Matt earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Weber State in 2006 and I got my Associate nursing degree in 2004, and then my Bachelor's in Nursing in 2007. I work for McKay Dee Hospital in the Operating Room and Matt works for MarketStar as a data specialist. We don't have any children, but we have had a few pets in our last 5 1/2 years of marriage ranging from cats, dogs, and guinea pigs.
